124 हिरण्याक्ष

भगवान के अवतार की कथा मोक्ष देने वाली है, पर जैसे दवा के नाम से रोग दूर नहीं होता, रोटी शब्द से भूख नहीं मिटती और बिस्तर शब्द पर सोया नहीं जाता, यह कथा सुनने मात्र से नहीं, समझकर जीवन में उतारने से कल्याण करती है। आज भगवान के वराह अवतार का अर्थ-

कश्यप ॠषि की दो पत्नियाँ हैं, अदिति और दिति। खतरा देखते ही अंगों को भीतर समेट ले वो कच्छप, विषय दृष्टि में आते ही इन्द्रियाँ अन्तर्मुखी कर ले वो कश्यप, माने संयमी साधक।

अदिति माने अद्वैत बुद्धि, दिति माने द्वैत बुद्धि, इन्हीं को सुमति कुमति भी कहा गया। अदिति से देवताओं माने दैवी वृत्तियों का जन्म होता है, तो दिति से राक्षसों हिरण्याक्ष और हिरण्यकशिपु माने आसुरी वृत्तियों का जन्म होता है।

हिरण्याक्ष और हिरण्यकशिपु पहले वैकुंठ के द्वारपाल जय और विजय थे। "विगत कुण्ठा इति वैकुण्ठा।" कुंठा रहित, शुद्ध अंतःकरण ही वैकुंठ है।

जीत और कीर्ति की कामना रूपी जय और विजय ने, चतुष्ट अंतःकरण रूपी सनकादिकों में क्रोध उत्पन्न कर दिया। करे भी क्यों न, कामना तो क्रोध की जननी है ही। क्रोध दोष है, एक भी दोष हो तो वैकुंठ कहाँ? जय विजय को गिरना पड़ा। असुर होना पड़ा। "असुषु रमन्ते सः असुरः" जो इन्द्रियों में ही रम जाए वो असुर है।

हिरण्य माने समष्टि सूक्ष्म। अक्ष माने आँख। हिरण्याक्ष माने संसारोन्मुखी दृष्टि, लोभ। इसी से समस्त आसुरी वृत्तियों का उद्गम है, इसीलिए यह आदि दैत्य है।

यों कामांध द्वैतबुद्धि दिति से, लोभ हिरण्याक्ष पैदा हुआ। अविद्यमान जगत को विद्यमान समझने वाला, मरणधर्मा देह को अपनाआपा मानने वाला, अविद्याग्रस्त प्रत्येक मनुष्य हिरण्याक्ष है। हिरण्याक्ष पृथ्वी को सागर में ले गया। पृथ्वी माने मनुष्य देह। सागर माने वासना के जल से भरा संसार।

"धड़ धरनी कर एकई लेखा। जो भीतर सो बाहर देखा॥"

"अपारे संसारे विषय विष पूरो जलनिधौ"

"इदं शरीरं कौन्तेय क्षेत्र मित्यभिधीयते"

जब मनुष्य देह पाकर कोई संसारोन्मुखी जीव वासना के सागर में डूब जाता है, तब अंतःकरण के सद्गुण ग्लानि से भरकर भगवान को पुकार उठते हैं।

"यदा यदा ही धर्मस्य ग्लानिर्भवतु..."

तब वराह, माने वह राह, माने मार्ग प्रशस्त करने वाले भगवान अंतःकरण में उतर आते हैं और संसारोन्मुखी दृष्टि को फाड़ देते हैं। तब वह मनुष्य विषय रूपी जल से भरे सागर रूपी संसार से बाहर आकर, प्रतिष्ठा पाने लगता है।

The story of Bhagwan's incarnation gives salvation, but as you can't cure disease by mere name of medicine, word bread does not eradicate hunger and you can't sleep on word bed, this story gives welfare not just by listening but by taking it into life. Today the meaning of Bhagwan's Varaha Avtaar-

Sage Kashyap had two wives, Aditi and Diti. Seeing a danger, who covers the organs is tortoise, as soon as an object comes in sight, who makes the senses introverted is Kashyap.

Aditi means Advaita intellect, Diti means dualism, these are also called Sumati and Kumati. Aditi gives birth to deities, the divine thoughts, while Diti gives birth to demons like Hiranyaksh and Hiranyakashipu, the evil thoughts.

At first Hiranyaksh and Hiranyakashipu were the gatekeepers of Vaikunth, Jai and Vijay. "Vigat kuntha itee vaikuntha." A mind without any doubt is Vaikunth.

Jai and Vijay, the desire for victory and fame, provoked anger among Sanakadiks, the mind. And why not? Desire is the mother of anger. Anger is a flaw, and even if there is a single flaw then where is Vaikunth? Jai Vijay had to fall. Had to be demon. "Asushu ramante sa: asura:" The one who gets absorbed in the senses is an demon.

Hiranya means the world. Aksh means eye. Hiranyaksh means a vision which rests on the worldly things, greed. This is the origin of all devilish thoughts, that is why it is the first demon.

Thus, due to lustful dualism Diti, greed Hiranyaksh was born. Every person who is ignorant, who considers the non-existent world as existing, believes this mortal body as himself, is Hiranyaksh. Hiranyaksh took the earth into the ocean. Earth means human body. Sagar means world full of water of lust.

"Dhar dharani kar ekayi lekha,

Jo bheetar so bahar dekha."

"Apare sansare vishay vish puro jalnidho."

"Idam shareeram kaunteya kshetra mityabhidhiyate"

When a human immerses in ocean of lust, the virtues of conscience are filled with guilt and call Bhagwan.

"Yada yada hi dharmasya glanirbhavatu..."

Then Varaha, the Way, Bhagwan who paves the way, comes down in conscience and ends the worldly vision. Then he comes out of the ocean-like world and starts gaining prestige.
