128 द्रौपदी स्वयंवर

द्रौपदी विवाह योग्य हुई तो बड़ा विचित्र स्वयंवर रखा गया। गगनचुंबी महल की छत के भीतर, गुंबद के नीचे, एक तीर में एक मछली इस प्रकार लगाई गई है कि मछली की एक आँख नीचे की ओर है, और दूसरी आँख ऊपर की ओर।

वह तीर न मालूम किस यंत्र से, इतनी तेजी से गोलाकार घूम रहा है कि मछली की आँख तो दूर, मछली तक दिखाई नहीं दे रही। बस कुछ घूम रहा मालूम पड़ता है। क्या घूम रहा है मालूम नहीं पड़ता।

शर्त यह है कि मछली की नीचे की ओर वाली आँख में तीर मारना है। पर ऐसे कि तीर आँख में लगते ही रुक जाए, ऊपर वाली आँख न फूटने पाए।

तरकीब यह है कि उस गुंबद के एकदम नीचे, एक स्वर्ण पात्र, शुद्ध घी से भरकर रखा गया है। जब उस पात्र में देखा जाता है तब वह घूमती मछली और उसकी आँख स्पष्ट दिखाई देती है। देखना नीचे है, मारना ऊपर है।

प्रयास बहुतों ने किया, पर कोई मछली की आँख न भेद पाया। अंत में अर्जुन आया और उसने एक ही तीर में, उस आँख को भेद दिया। द्रौपदी अर्जुन की हो गई।

बात क्या है? मन ही मछली है। वह तीर उसी मछली में नहीं लगा, हर मन में तीर लगा है, कामना का तीर। और यह मन इतनी तेजी से घूमता है, कि देखने में नहीं आता। जो इसे देख पाए वह तो द्रष्टाभाव को ही उपलब्ध हो जाए।

मन की दो दृष्टि हैं, अधोमुखी-वासनामुखी-संसारोन्मुखी और ऊर्ध्वमुखी-उपासनामुखी-परमात्मोन्मुखी। अधोमुखी दृष्टि फूट जाए, ऊर्ध्वमुखी रह जाए, यही मोक्ष है।

और घी से भरा स्वर्ण पात्र क्या है? संस्कृत में घी को स्नेह भी कहा जाता है। स्नेह माने प्रेम। विधि पूर्वक चलते हुए, अपने अंत:करण को परमात्म प्रेम से भरकर, सुपात्र बना लेना ही, घी से भरा स्वर्ण पात्र है।

जब ऐसे सुपात्र निर्मल मन पर दृष्टि टिकाकर, अपने ध्यान रूपी धनुष पर, गुरोपदेश रूपी बाण चढ़ा लेने वाला अर्जुन रूपी अनुरागी साधक, अपने मन रूपी मछली की अधोमुखी वासनामुखी दृष्टि को फोड़ डालता है, तब द्रौपदी, ध्रुवपदी, माने वह ध्रुवपद, आत्मपद, कभी न मिटने वाला पद, साधक का वरण कर लेता है।

When Draupadi grown up, a very strange condition was kept for her marriage. Within the roof of the skyscraper, under the dome, a fish is fixed in an arrow in such a way that one eye of the fish is downwards, and the other eye is upwards.

Don't know with which device the arrow is rotating so fast that who can see the fish's eye, that fish itself is not visible at all. It seems that something is rotating, what is rotating is not known.

The condition is to shoot an arrow into the fish's downward eye. But in such a way that the arrow should stop, as soon as it hits the eye, the upper eye should not be touched.

The trick is that just below that dome, a gold vessel is filled with pure ghee. When the vessel is seen, the rotating fish and its eye are clearly visible. You have to see down, but hit upwards.

Many tried, but no one could find the eye of the fish. Finally Arjun came and he pierced the eye with a single arrow. Arjun got Draupadi.

What is the matter? Mind is the fish. That arrow was not put in that fish only, in every mind there is an arrow, the arrow of desires. And this mind runs so fast that it cannot be seen. Only he who became a seer, can see it.

There are two types of the mind, Downwards-Desiring-Worldly vision and Upwards-Meditating-Bhagwan loving vision. When the downward vision erupts, only upward vision remains, that is salvation.

And what is a gold vessel filled with ghee? Ghee is also called "Sneh" in Sanskrit. Sneh means love. Walking with means, filling your intellect with divine love and making it eligible, is a gold vessel filled with ghee.

Here am ardent seeker is Arjuna, meditation is the bow and sant's sermon is the arrow. When a seeker like Arjun, have such an eligible serene mind, meditates on the sermon, and turns his vision upwards, then Draupadi, immortality, never-ending true self, salvation, chooses the seeker.

You should do the same, fill your mind with love for Bhagwan and by chanting and contemplation, achieve self realization.
