133 साधन से मन की निर्मलता

साधन से मन कैसे निर्मल होता है? इसे रामसेतु प्रसंग से समझेंगे।

देखें, संसार ही सागर है। मन में चलनेवाले अनगिनत, देह विषयक, अस्थिर, दुखदायी संकल्प विकल्प ही, असंख्य, माँसाहारी, कभी न टिकने वाले, भंयकर समुद्री जीव हैं। ये ही दुख और बंधन के मूल कारण हैं।

एक एक श्वास ही पत्थर है। यह श्वास ही बाह्य संकल्पों को भीतर उतार कर, जगत में डुबाने वाली है।

भगवान के नाम का जप ही नल है। नाम जपने का नियम ही नील है। सद्गुण ही वानर भालू हैं।

वानर रूपी सद्गुणों के सहयोग से, एक एक श्वास रूपी पत्थर पर, नामजप रूपी नल द्वारा, रामनाम लिखने लगना, बस इतना ही कुल साधन है। श्वास पर नाम जपने से, बाह्य संकल्प भीतर नहीं आ पाते। तब यही श्वास डुबाने वाली नहीं, तैराने वाली हो जाती है, यही पत्थरों का सागर पर तैरना है।

लेकिन इन पत्थरों को नील यदि आपस में बाँधता न जाए, तो सागर के जल की प्रचंड लहरें उन पत्थरों को छिन्नभिन्न कर देगीं और पुल कभी न बनेगा। योंही यदि नामजप नियम से न किया जाए तो संसार की विषय-वासनाओं के थपेड़े उस किए गए जप को नष्ट-भ्रष्ट कर देते हैं, और जप सफल नहीं हो पाता।

एक बार कस के नियमपूर्वक जप कर डालें, तो जैसे वहाँ पाँच ही दिनों में पुल बन गया और भगवान उस पर खड़े होने का स्थान पा गए, यहाँ कस के नामजप करने से भगवान मन में उतर आते हैं।

तब सभी समुद्री जीवों की ही तरह, सभी मानसिक वृत्तियाँ भगवानोन्मुख होकर, समस्त राग-द्वेष भुलाकर, चंचलता त्यागकर, न केवल स्थिर हो जाती हैं, टस से मस नहीं होतीं, और विषय रूपी जल दिखना भी बंद हो जाता है। यही भगवान की कृपा का पुल बन जाना है। तब ये वृत्तियाँ बाधा डालनेवाली नहीं रहतीं, सहायक हो जाती हैं। बस यही मन का निर्मल हो जाना है। और-

"निर्मल मन जन सो मोहि पावा"

यों साधक कृतकृत्य हो जाता है, धन्य हो जाता है।

लोकेशानन्द का स्पष्ट अनुभव है कि ऐसे साधक के पार होने में कोई संशय नहीं रह जाता।

How does the mind become pure through means? We will understand this from the Ram-setu episode.

See, world is the ocean. The innumerable, bodily, unstable, sorrowful resolutions of the mind, are considered as the innumerable, unstable, terrifying sea creatures. These are the root cause of sorrow and bondage.

Every breath is a stone. When this breath is connected with external thoughts, it immerses you in the world.

Chanting Bhagwan's name is Nal. The resolve to chant is Neel. Virtues are the monkeys and bears.

To chant Ram on every breath, is the only means. By chanting the name on the breath, external thoughts are not able to come in. Then this breath does not let you drown, it makes you float, this is the floating of stones on the ocean.

But if the Neel does not tie these stones together, the strong waves of the ocean water will scatter those stones and the bridge will never be built. In the same way, if chanting is not done by a strong resolution, the world's desires destroy the chanting done and then chanting is not successful.

Once chanting is done with strict resolution, as the bridge was built there in five days and Bhagwan found a place to stand on it, by chanting here, Bhagwan incarnates in the mind.

Then, like all sea creatures, all the thoughts are Bhagwan-oriented, forgetting all raga-malice, abandoning fickleness, they stabilize, and the water of lust doesn't even appear. This is to become the bridge of Bhagwan's grace. Then these thoughts are not obstructing, they become helpful. This is the purification of mind. And-

"Nirmal man jan so mohi paava"

Thus the seeker becomes grateful, blessed.
