167 संत को पहचानने

बताएँ आप में से आज कौन ऐसा है जो भरत जी को भगवान राम का भक्त मानने से इंकार करता है? कोई नहीं। पर ऐसा तो आज है ना? आज तो सभी भरत जी को भक्त मानते हैं, संत मानते हैं। पर विचार करें कि जिस समय वे इस धरा धाम पर शरीर धारण कर विराज रहे थे, उस समय समाज में उनके प्रति कैसी अवधारणा थी?

भगवान राम को वनवास हुआ तो भरत जी को नाना के घर से बुलाया गया। भरत जी आए, तो अयोध्यावासियों ने मुंह फेर लिया, उनकी ओर देखा तक नहीं। सब को भरत जी पर संदेह है। सबको लगता है कि राम जी के वनवास में इन्हीं का हाथ है।

भरत जी भगवान से मिलने गए तो चित्रकूट के मार्ग में निषादराज ने संदेह किया कि कहीं राम जी को मारने तो नहीं जा रहे? भरत जी की परीक्षा ली गई।

"कारण कवन भरत वन जाहिं।

है कछु कपट भाव मन माहिं॥"

भरत जी आगे गए तो प्रयागराज में भारद्वाज जी ने परीक्षा ली।

और तो और भरत जी के भाई, स्वयं लक्ष्मण जी तक ने भी उन पर संदेह किया। यहाँ तक की लक्ष्मण जी ने तो भगवान को भी अपनी सौगंध देकर चुप करवा दिया।

यह तो भगवान ने स्वयं मोहर लगा दी, कि भरत जी संत हैं, तब दुनिया ने माना। नहीं तो दुनियावाले माननेवाले नहीं थे।

किसी को क्या कहें? संसार का ढंग ही ऐसा है। वह संत को उसके जीवित रहते नहीं पहचानता, उसके मर जाने के बाद रोता है। हालांकि संत को कुछ अंतर नहीं, जो पाना था पा लिया, अब तो "समय बिताने के लिए, करना है कुछ काम"।

फिर संत को तो हर तराजू पर तुलना है, लाख परीक्षाएँ देनी हैं, कदम कदम पर फिसलने से बचना है, जब तक देह छूट नहीं जाती सब प्रकार का व्यवहार बड़ी ही सावधानी से निभाना है।

बताएँ, संत ने क्या नहीं सहा? प्रह्लाद को अग्नि में बैठना पड़ा, शबरी को उपहास सहना पड़ा, गुरु अर्जुनदेव जी को गर्म तवे पर बैठाया गया। गुरू तेग बहादुर जी का शीश काटा गया, गुरू गोविंद सिंह जी के जीवित रहते फतेह जोरावर को जिन्दा दीवार में चुना गया, बन्दा बहादुर के गले में उन्हीं के पुत्र की आँतड़ियाँ डाल दी गईं, नरसी को घर से निकाला गया, मीरा को जहर पीना पड़ा, किसी को चीरा गया, किसी को बेचा गया, किसी पर थूका गया, किसी पर पत्थर पड़े, किसी को सूली मिली, कितना लिखूं? है कोई गिनती? किसी ने ठीक ही कहा है-

"हमारी जिंदगी में हमको दुनिया खाक समझेगी।

हमें उस वक्त समझा जाएगा जब हम नहीं होंगे॥"

पर संत अपना स्वभाव कैसे छोड़े? वह फिर भी करुणा करता है, फिर फिर आवाज लगा लगा कर पुकारता है।

लोकेशानन्द को हैरानी इस बात की है कि आपको भी कितनों ने पुकारा, मालूम नहीं आप बहरे हैं कि जानबूझकर नहीं सुनते?

Tell me, who among you is the one who refuses to accept Bharat ji as a devotee of Bhagwan Ram? No one. But it is so today, isn't it? Today everyone considers Bharat ji as a devotee, as a sant. But consider that at the time when he was alive, what was the thought about him in the society?

When Bhagwan Ram went to exile, Bharat ji was called from his Nana's house. When Bharat ji came, the people of Ayodhya turned their backs, did not even look at him. Everyone has doubts on Bharat ji. Everyone feels that he has a hand in the exile of Ram ji.

When Bharat ji went to meet Bhagwan Ram, on the way to Chitrakoot, Nishadraj doubted whether he was going to kill Ram ji? Bharat ji was tested.

"Kaaran kavan Bharat van jahi,

Hai kachhu kapat bhav man mahi."

When Bharat ji went ahead, in Prayagraj Bharadwaj ji took his test.

Moreover, even Bharat ji's brother, Lakshman ji himself, doubted him. Even Lakshman ji made Bhagwan silent by giving oath.

Bhagwan himself has stamped, that Bharat ji is a sant, then the world accepted it. Otherwise, the people of the world would have never believed.

what to say? Such is the way of the world. It doesn't recognize the sant while he is alive, but cries after his death. Although there is no difference to the sant, he has achieved what he had to achieve, now he has to do any work to spend his remaining time.

A sant is weighed on every scale, he has to give millions of examinations, he has to be vigilant on each step not to slip, till the body is not dead, he has to be done all kinds of behavior very carefully.

Tell me, what did the sant not suffer? Prahlad had to sit in the fire, Shabri had to face ridicule, Guru Arjundev ji had to sit on a hot pan, Guru Tegbahadur's head was cut, Fateh Zorawar was buried alive in the wall while Guru Gobind Singh ji was alive, his own son's intestines were put around the neck of Banda Bahadur, Narsi was evicted from the house, Meera had to drink poison, someone was cut, someone was sold, someone was spit on, someone was stoned, someone got a crucifix, how much should I write? Is there any count?

But how can a sant leave his nature? Even though he knows that the world can't understand him in his life, he will be understood after he will die. But he still shows compassion, again and again calls out with a loud voice.
