178 सरल संत का मूल्य न आँके

किसी मनुष्य द्वारा कोटि जन्मों में किए गए समस्त यज्ञ, व्रत, तप, दान, जप और तीर्थ दर्शन का एकमात्र फल है किसी आत्मज्ञानी संत का मिल जाना। पर मूढ़ मनुष्य संत को न पहचान कर, भगवान की कृपा से प्राप्त फल की उपेक्षा कर, अपने पूर्व अभ्यास से उत्पन्न स्वाभानुसार, मनमाने कर्मों में ही भ्रमता रहता है।

मन्दबुद्धि मनुष्य, संत रूपी मंजिल मिलने पर भी, उसका तिरस्कार कर, जो वह अब तक करता आया है, उसी उसी को करते रहने में ही अपना कल्याण समझकर, लक्ष्य से भटक जाता है।

असली भाग्यवान तो वह है, जो संत को पहचान कर, उनसे न करने योग्य बात न करे, वाद विवाद न करे, अपनी बड़ाई न करे, बिना उनकी आज्ञा के व्याख्यान न दे, दीक्षा न दे, नया काम न करे, प्रणाम किए बिना न उठे न बैठे, चाहे प्राण ही क्यों न जाते हों उनकी आज्ञा के बिना उनकी वस्तु का प्रयोग न करे, गुरू जो दें उसे लेने से मना न करे, उनका प्रसाद दीनवत् ले, उनकी वस्तु को पैर से न छुए, उनके समक्ष साधारण वेश में जाए, अशुभ रूप बनाकर या बहुत सजधज कर न जाए, कोई उनकी निंदा करे तो वहाँ से हट जाए, जो भी मिल जाए या कुछ भी न मिले, मन में क्लेश न लाए।

जैसे भंवरा शहद के लोभ में फूल फूल घूमता है, वैसे ही शिष्य ज्ञान पाने के लिए संत के पीछे पीछे चलता हुआ, उनकी परछाई का भी अपने पैर से उल्लंघन न करे।

सर्वव्यापक परमात्मा जिस संत में ज्ञानरूप से प्रकट होते हैं, वो अपने सरल स्वभाव से, साधारण जन की तरह फिरते हैं। पर महामूर्ख मनुष्य उन संत को ऐसे साधारण रूप में देखकर, उन्हें तुच्छ समझकर, यथार्थ लाभ से वंचित रह जाता है।

कुटिलों के दरवाजे झाँके॥"

लोकेशानन्द कहता है कि अथाह सागर में डूब रहे मनुष्य को, जैसे नौका ही एकमात्र सहारा है, संसार सागर में डूबे मनुष्य के लिए, संत ही एकमात्र नौका है।

The only result of all the sacrifices, fasting, austerity, charity, chanting and pilgrimage performed by someone in countless births is to meet a self-realized sant. But a fool, not recognizing the sant, neglecting the fruit obtained by Bhagwan's grace, keeps on getting confused in arbitrary actions according to his previous practice.

Even after finding a sant, despises him, and considering his welfare in doing the same that he has been doing till now, deviates from the goal.

The real fortunate is the one who, after recognizing the sant, doesn't say anything that is not worth saying, doesn't argue, doesn't brag, doesn't give sermon without his permission, doesn't initiate, doesn't do any new work, doesn't get up or sit without bowing, doesn't use sant's object without his permission even if life is being lost, doesn't refuse to take whatever sant gives, takes his prasad humbly, doesn't touch his object with feet, wears ordinary clothes in front of him, if someone criticizes the sant then moves away from there, doesn't mind whatever he gives or doesn't give anything.

Just as a bee moves flower to flower for honey, similarly the disciple should follow the sant to gain knowledge, even without violating his shadow with his feet.

The sant in whom the omnipresent Bhagwan manifests in the form of knowledge, because of his simplicity, lives like an ordinary person. But a fool, seeing that sant in such an ordinary form, considers him insignificant, and is deprived of the real benefit. He doesn't know the real value of a simple sant, and looks at the doors of the crooks.

Lokeshanand says that to a man drowning in the bottomless ocean, just as a boat is the only support, for a man drowned in the world, a sant is the only boat.
