186 अपमान

जगत में उतना झगड़ा झंझट तलवार का नहीं है, जितना जीभ के वार का है। संसारी हो या साधक, इधर किसी की जीभ जरा हिली, उधर मन पर घाव पड़ा। कि हाय! हाय! मेरा अपमान हो गया। यहाँ थप्पड़ मारकर प्रेम के वचन बोलने वाला प्रिय है, गोद में बैठा कर गाली देने वाला शत्रु।

एक संत ही है, जो लाख गाली खाकर भी मुस्कुराता ही है। कारण क्या है? आएँ विचार करें-

१- मान और अपमान नाम की जगत में कोई वस्तु, हाथ में रखे फल जैसी, आँख की पकड़ में नहीं आती। ताली और गाली में 'त' और 'ग' का ही अंतर है। मन ही खिलता या मुरझाता है, असल में बढ़ता या घटता कुछ नहीं।

२- अपमान दूसरा नहीं करता, कर सकता ही नहीं। अपना ही अतीत का कर्म, प्रारब्ध बनकर अपमान कराता है।

३- प्रारब्ध का फल तो कुछ भी होना संभव है। शारीरिक चोट, मार पिटाई, धन सम्पत्ति की हानि, स्वजन वियोग, अपंग हो जाना, जेल हो जाना आदि आदि। यदि अपमान में ही मामला सुलट गया, तो यह हम पर कितनी कृपा हुई कि अपमान मात्र से काम चल गया। कुछ घिसा भी नहीं और प्रारब्ध भी कट गया।

४- फिर आमतौर पर अपमान करने वाला भी कोई अपना जानकारी में ही होता है। यह भी कृपा ही है कि अपने ने अपमान किया, दूसरा करता तो कत्ल नहीं हो जाते?

५- और भी यदि दूसरा हमसे घृणा करे, तो हमें तो लाभ ही है। आखिर मोह ही तो दुख और बंधन का एकमात्र कारण है। कितनी अच्छी बात है कि मोह का धागा हमें नहीं तोड़ना पड़ रहा है, दूसरा स्वयं ही तोड़े दे रहा है।

६- अब सबसे महत्वपूर्ण बात। प्रह्लाद, ध्रुव, अर्जुन, मीरा, तुलसी, कबीर, नरसी, एकनाथ, रामकृष्ण, यहाँ तक की स्वयं भगवान तक को कितना अपमान नहीं सहन करना पड़ा? तब बिना किसी ज्ञात अपराध के, अपमान हो जाना तो भक्ति मार्ग में सफलता की सूचना है।

लोकेशानन्द को तो इसमें दुख का कोई कारण नहीं दिखता।

The quarrel in the world is not as much of a sword as of a blow of the tongue. Whether it is a worldly being or a seeker, here someone's tongue moved a little, there was a wound on the mind, that oh! I got insulted. Here the one who speaks lovingly after slapping you is dear, the one who first puts you on his lap and then abuses, is the enemy.

Sant is the only one, who smiles even after being abused a million. What is the reason? Consider-

1- There is no such thing in the world called honor and humiliation, like a fruit held in hand. The difference between honor and humiliation is that the mind blooms or fades, in fact nothing grows or decreases.

2- The other does not insult, cannot even do it. One's own past deeds, becoming destiny, bring humiliation.

3- Any result of destiny could be possible, like physical injury, being beaten, loss of money and property, separation of loved ones, becoming crippled, imprisoned, etc. If the matter was resolved in humiliation only, then how much it is a blessing to us? Nothing was gone and destiny was also cut.

4- Then usually someone who insults is also someone own. It is also a blessing that you have been insulted by someone known, if someone else would have done it, there would be murders.

5- And even if the other humiliates us, then also we are in profit. After all, attachment is the only cause of misery and bondage. It is such a good thing that we do not have to break the thread of attachment ourselves, others are breaking it themselves.

6- Now the most important thing. How much humiliation did not Prahlad, Dhruv, Arjun, Meera, Tulsi, Kabir, Narsi, Eknath, Ramakrishna, even Bhagwan himself have to bear? Then being insulted without any known offence is a sign of success on the path of devotion.

Lokeshanand sees no reason for sorrow in this.
