200 हिन्दू

आज पुनः हिन्दू शब्द पर चर्चा। जैसा कि स्वामी विवेकानन्द जी कहते थे- "गर्व से कहो कि हम हिन्दू हैं।" तो आप सुधि पाठकगण स्वयं विचार करें, कि क्या यह शब्द गर्व का विषय नहीं? ध्यान दें-

"हृद इन्दू स हिन्दू।"

जिसका हृदय चन्द्रमा हो जाए वह हिन्दू है। मन ही चन्द्रमा है। आत्मा ही सूर्य है। जैसे चन्द्रमा का अपना प्रकाश नहीं होता, वह सूर्य के ही प्रकाश से प्रकाशित रहता है। ऐसे ही जिसका अंतःकरण आत्मप्रकाश से प्रकाशित रहे, वह हिन्दू है।

"हीनं च दूष्यत्येव हिन्दुरित्युच्चते प्रिये" (शैव ग्रन्थ, मेरू तन्त्र)

"हीनं दूष्यति इति हिन्दू" (कल्पद्रुम)

जो अज्ञानता और हीनता का त्याग कर दे वह हिन्दू है। जो जगत के प्रति सत्य बुद्धि का त्याग कर दे, जो देहाध्यास त्याग दे, वह हिन्दू है।

"ओंकारमंत्रमूलाढ्य पुनर्जन्म दृढाशयः।

गोभक्तो भारतगुरूर्हिन्दूर्हिंसनदूषकः॥"

(माधव दिग्विजय)

जो ओंकार मंत्र का आश्रय ग्रहण कर, अपने मूल को जान लेता है और पुनर्जन्म से छूट जाता है वह हिन्दू है। जो अपनी इन्द्रियों को भक्ति में लगा दे, परमात्म् भाव में रत हो जाए, हिंसा आदि आसुरी सम्पद् से दूर रहे, वह हिन्दू है।

"हिनस्ति तपसा पापां दैहिकां दुष्टं।

हेतिभिः शत्रुवर्गं च स हिन्दूरभिधियते॥"

(पारिजात हरण)

जो तप करके, दुष्ट दैहिक पापों को, अंतःकरण के समस्त शत्रुओं सहित मार डाले वह हिन्दू है।

और यह श्लोक तो आपने सुना ही होगा-

"हिमालयं समारभ्य सावत इन्दूसरोवरं।

तं देवनिर्मितं देशं हिन्दूस्थानं प्रचक्षते॥"

(बृहस्पति अग्यम्, ॠगवेद)

माने हिमालय से इन्दु सरोवर तक, देव निर्मित देश को हिन्दुस्थान कहते हैं।

यह भी-

"अासिंधुसिंधूपर्यन्ताः यस्य भारतभूमिका।

पितृभू पुण्यभूश्र्चैवः स वैः हिंदुरिती स्मृताः।"

Today again discussion on the word Hindu. As Swami Vivekanand used to say- "Say proudly that we are Hindus." So you consider yourself, is this word not a matter of pride? Pay attention-

"Hrid indu sa Hindu."

The one whose heart has become moon is a Hindu. Mind is the moon. The soul is the sun. Just as the moon has no light of its own, it is illuminated by the light of the sun itself. In the same way, whose mind is illuminated by the light of soul, he is a Hindu.

One who renounces ignorance and inferiority is a Hindu. One who renounces true intellect towards the world, one who renounces attachment, is a Hindu.

Gobhakto Bharatgururhindurhinsandushakah."

(Madhav Digvijay)

One who takes shelter of Omkar mantra, knows his true self and is freed from rebirth, is a Hindu. One who engages his senses in devotion, becomes engrossed in the divine spirit, stays away from demonic possessions like violence, etc., is a Hindu.

"Hinasti tapasa papam daihikam dushtam,

Hetibhih shatruvargam cha sa Hindurbhidhiyate."

(Parijat Haran)

The one who destroys the sins of the body along with all the enemies of the mind by doing penance, is a Hindu.

And you must have heard this verse-

"Himalayam samarabhaya sawat Indusarovaram,

Tam Devnirmitam desham Hindusthanam prachakshate."

(Vrihaspati Agyam, Rigveda)

That is, from the Himalayas to the Indu Sarovar, the country created by Bhagwan is called Hindustan.

This also-

"Asindhusindhuparyantag yasya Bharatbhumika,

Pitribhu punyabhushrachaivah sa vaih Hinduriti smrita."
