396 ज्ञानोपलब्धि

एक बड़ी ही महत्वपूर्ण बात है, कितना ही चारा खिलाओ, बछड़ा एक दिन में बैल नहीं हो जाता। वह तो धीरे धीरे आयु पाकर ही बड़ा होता है। ऐसे ही कितना ही उपदेश सुनो, ज्ञान एक दिन में नहीं हो पाता, ज्ञान भी उपदेश सुनते सुनते, समय पाकर ही प्राप्त होता है।

जैसे पानी की पतली धार पड़ती रहने से पत्थर पर भी निशान पड़ जाते हैं, ऐसे ही दैनिक उपदेश का लाभ यह है कि मन पर प्रतिदिन चोट पड़ती रहने से, मन पर संस्कार पड़ जाते हैं।

अतः हमें निरंतर प्रयासरत रहना चाहिए कि कैसे अपने से हीन का संग त्याग कर, किन्हीं महापुरुष का संग किया जाए। हालाँकि यह भी देखा जाता है कि कुछ मित्र महापुरुष का संग तो करते हैं, पर उनके द्वारा दिए जा रहे उपदेश पर ध्यान नहीं देते। उन्हें समझना चाहिए कि वे उस चीचड़ जैसे हैं जो गाए के थन से तो चिपटे हैं, पर वे दूध नहीं पीते, गाए का खून ही पीते हैं।

इससे अच्छा तो वह बछड़ा है, जो दिन भर गाए से दूर रह कर भी, समय पाते ही दूध पी लिया करता है।

दूसरी बात यह है कि जैसे एक बार एक बछड़ा गाए को छोड़ कर साँडों के बाड़े में चला गया था, तो साँडों ने लात मार मार कर उसका मुँह सुजा दिया था। मार खाकर वह बछड़ा अपनी माँ के पास वापिस तो पहुँचा, पर तब भी मुँह सूजा होने से दूध नहीं पी पाया।

ऐसे ही महापुरुष और उनके उपदेश को छोड़ कर, विषयों का संग करने वाला साधक भी, माया की लात तो खाता ही है, पर फिर वह उपदेश सुनने लायक भी नहीं रहता।

कल ही गुरूदेव भगवान ने लिख भेजा था-

"आसन मारा क्या भया, गई न मन की आस।

जिमि कोल्हू के बैल को, घर ही कोस पचास॥"

आसन तो लगा लिया, पर मन से कामनाएँ न छूटीं। तो जैसे कोल्हू में बंधे बैल को, पास का ही घर भी पचास कोस चलने के बाद ही उपलब्ध होता है, कामासक्त मन वाला भी अनन्त जन्मों के चक्कर खाने के बाद ही कहीं जाकर ज्ञान को उपलब्ध हो पाता है।

इसीलिए लोकेशानन्द कहता है कि कुसंग का त्याग, महापुरुष का संग, नित्यप्रति संतोपदेश पर मनन और कामनारहितता, बस तब ज्ञानोपलब्धि में कोई बाधा नहीं रहती।

Just as a thin stream of water leaves a mark on the stone, similarly the benefit of daily sermon is that the mind gets improved.

Therefore, we should constantly strive how to abandon the company of evil, and to associate with a great man. Although it is also seen that some friends associate with great men, but do not pay attention to his sermon. They should understand that they are like that flea that clings to a cow's udder, but it does not drink milk, it only drinks cow's blood.

Better than that is the calf, who, despite staying away from the cow all day long, drinks milk as soon as he gets opportunity.

The second thing is that once a calf had left the cow and gone into the bull's enclosure, the bulls had kicked and swollen his mouth. Later, the calf returned to his mother, but still could not drink milk due to his swollen mouth.

Leaving a great man and his sermon, the seeker who accompanies the evil, is also kicked by Maya, and then he doesn't even remain capable of listening to the sermon.

"Aasan mara kya bhaya, gai na man ki aas,

Jimi kolhu ke bail ko, ghar hi kos pachaas."

That is why Lokeshanand says that if there is renunciation of evil, company of great men, contemplation on the continual sermon and desirelessness, then there is no obstacle in getting salvation.
