205 कामना वृक्ष, अहंकार भूमि

"रामभजन बिनु मिटहिं की कामा।

थल विहीन तरु कबहूं कि जामा॥"

जैसे वृक्ष के होने के लिए भूमि चाहिए, भूमि ही न हो तो वृक्ष लगे कहाँ? ऐसे ही कामना का वृक्ष अहंकार रूपी भूमि में ही लगता है।

भूमि जब तक रहती है, वृक्ष लग ही जाता है। तो बिना अहंकार मिटे, कामना कैसे मिटे?

विचार करो, सुबह गहरी नींद से उठने पर, पहले "मैं" जन्म लेता है कि "कामना"?

उस समय पहले पहल तो कुछ मालूम नहीं पड़ता, मैं तो होता हूँ, पर "मैं" नहीं होता। माने हूँ तो पर जानता नहीं कि हूँ कौन? फिर वृत्ति जागती है कि मैं अमुक हूँ, यह हूँ। फिर कामना जन्मती है। तो पहले "मैं" फिर कामना। "मैं" ही न हो तो कामना होगी कहाँ?

रामकथा में कुंभकर्ण अहंकार है, मेघनाद काम,

"मोह दसमौली तद्भ्रात अहंकार पाकारजित काम विश्रामहारी"-(विनय पत्रिका)

बिना कुंभकर्ण के मरे मेघनाद नहीं मरता। तो अब यदि किसी उपाय से यह अहंकार ही न रहे, तो कामना पिशाचिनी से सदा सदा के लिए छुटकारा मिल जाए।

ध्यान दें, सुषुप्ति में जो आनन्द है, वह इसीलिए है क्योंकि गहरी नींद में यह "मैं" ही नहीं रहता, आप तो होते हैं, आपका "मैं" नहीं होता। अहं स्वयं में लीन हो गया होता है। "मैं" के न रहने से, कामना नहीं रहती और कामना निवृत्ति का सहज आनन्द मिलने लगता है।

बस यही कार्य जाग्रत में राम भजन से हो जाता है। राम भजन से "मैं" की भूमि ही नहीं रहती, कामना का अंकुर फूटेगा कहाँ?

अहंकार मिटते ही, विवेक रूपी तीसरा नेत्र खुल जाता है, काम राख हो जाता है, जीव शिव हो जाता है।

"Ram bhajan binu mitahin ki kama,

Thal viheen taru kabahoon ki jama."

As if the tree needs land to grow, if there is no land, where will the tree be? The tree of desire germinates in the land of ego.

As long as land remains, tree will be there. So until the ego ends, how can the desire be erased?

Think, when you wake up from a deep sleep in the morning, first "Me" is born or "Desire"?

At that time, at first, nothing is known, I am there, but my "Me" is not. It means that I am there, but I don't know who I am? Then the instinct awakens that I am so, this is me. Then the desire is born.

So the "Me" is born first, then the desire. If "Me" is not there, then who would have desire?

In Ramkatha Kumbhkarn is ego, Meghnad is desire-

"Moh dasmauli tadbhrat ahankar pakarjit kaam vishramhaari" (Vinay Patrika)

Until Kumbhkarn dies, Meghnad can't die. So now, if there is no ego, by any means, then we get rid of "desire the evil" forever.

Note that the joy in sleep is because the "Me" doesn't remain in deep sleep, you are there, but your "Me" is not. The ego is absorbed in self. Due to the absence of "Me", there is no desire, and absence of desire is true joy.

This is done by chanting Ram while awake. By chanting "Ram" the land of "Me" doesn't remain, where will the seed of desire sprout?

As soon as the ego disappears, the third eye of the conscience opens, the desires become ashes, the Jeeva becomes Shiva.
