211 शिव पद

शिव प्रसंग को आध्यात्मिक दृष्टि से भी देखें। तुलसीदास जी बालकांड में लिखते हैं-

"वन्दे बोधमयं नित्यं गुरुं शंकर रूपिणम्"

मैं बोधस्वरूप अविनाशी शंकर रूपी गुरु को प्रणाम करता हूँ। संकेत है कि शंकर माने सद्गुरु। माने भगवान का सगुण साकार रूप।

वास्तव में जैसे प्रधानमंत्री किसी व्यक्ति विशेष का नाम नहीं, एक विशिष्ट पद का नाम है, एक उपाधि है। जो उस पद का अधिकारी है, जो उस पर आसीन हुआ, वही प्रधानमंत्री कहलाता है। शिव भी किसी व्यक्ति का नाम नहीं, एक स्थिति है, एक पद है।

अंतर इतना ही है कि प्रधानमंत्री होकर कभी न कभी पूर्वप्रधानमंत्री होना ही पड़ता है, पद से उतरना ही पड़ता है। पर शिव पद शाश्वत है, वहाँ से फिर उतरना नहीं होता, एक बार बैठ गए तो बैठ गए। वहाँ तो आवागमन ही नहीं होता, वहाँ से उतरना कैसा?

ध्यान दें, अविनाशी पद, आत्म पद, ध्रुव पद, कैवल्य पद, शिव पद, ये सब पर्यायवाची शब्द हैं।

जो संसार में रचापचा है, जो देह को मैं मानता है, कर्तृत्वाभिमान से भरा है, अज्ञान में डूबा है, अपने स्वरूप को नहीं जानता, वह जीव है। और जो धर्म पर टिक गया, आत्माराम हो गया, आत्मस्वरूप जान गया, पूर्ण हो गया, मुक्त हो गया, वो शिव हो गया।

न उसे कुछ पाने को रहा, न खोने को, दिशाएँ ही उसे वस्त्र हो गईं, धर्म रूपी बैल उसका वाहन हो गया, भक्ति रूपी गंगा उसकी बुद्धि रूपी जटाओं से निरंतर बहने लगी, मन रूपी चन्द्रमा टेढ़ा होकर भी शोभा पाने लगा, विषय विष से भरे नाग उसे आभूषण हो गये।

लोकेशानन्द तो कहता है कि वह परमात्मा को जान गया, उसे जानकर वह परमात्मा ही हो गया।

Goswami Tulsidas ji writes in Baalkand-

"Vande Bodhamayam Nityam Gurum Shankar Rupinam"

I bow to enlightened, immortal, Shankar, the Guru. He says that Shankar means Guru.

In fact, like Prime Minister is not the name of a particular person, it is the name of a particular post, a title. The person who holds that position, who is occupying it, is called the Prime Minister. Shiv is also not a person's name, Shiv is a position, a designation.

The difference is that as Prime Minister, one has to be the former Prime Minister at some time or the other. But the term Shiv is eternal, there is no getting down from there, once sat down, then sat down. How to get down?

Note, the immortal verse, the eternal post, the Dhruva post, Kaivalya, Nirvan, Moksh, Shiv pad, all these are synonyms.

He who is lost in the world, considers himself a body, considers himself a doer, immersed in ignorance, does not know its true self, is a Jeeva.

And the one who got the truth, became Atma-Ram, attained self-realization, achieved salvation, he became Shiva.

For him nothing was left to gain, nor to lose. Directions became cloths for him. The righteousness ox became his vehicle. Ganga in the form of devotion started flowing continuously from his intellect. Even crooked moon, the symbol of the mind, looks graceful. Snakes filled with poison also became ornaments for him.

He came to know the divine. He became the same after knowing that Bhagwan, he became Bhagwan.
