254 केवट की जिद्द

केवट गंगा की, भक्ति की धारा में नाव चलाता है। जो अपना व्यवहार और व्यापार भक्ति की धारा से जोड़ ले, भक्ति पूर्वक चलाने लगे, उसे भगवान के पास जाना नहीं पड़ता, भगवान स्वयं ही चले आते हैं।

राम जी बुलाते हैं, केवट आता नहीं। लक्षमण जी हंसते हैं कि भगवान! आपने उधर सुमंत्र जी से कहा, जाओ! पर वो जाते नहीं, इधर केवट से कहा, आओ! ये आते नहीं। वो रथ पर बैठा है, ये नाव पर। आपका कहना कोई नहीं मानता।

राम जी कहते हैं कि लक्षमण! वनवास के समय, जब मैंने तुम्हें कहा था कि मेरे साथ मत आओ, तब तुम माने थे? मेरी बोहनी तो तुमने ही बिगाड़ी है। भाई! प्रेमियों का ढंग ही अलग है, उनका रहनी किसी अौर ही प्रकार की होती है। केवट के जीवन में प्रेम का दर्शन है, प्रदर्शन नहीं है।

केवट पूछता है, आपको तारना आता है, तैरना नहीं आता? राम जी कहें, मुझे तैरना नहीं आता, मुझे तो डूबना आता है। कहाँ? मुझे भक्तों के प्रेम में डूबना आता है।

केवट कहे कि परेशानी आपसे नहीं, आपकी चरण धूलि से है। मेरी नाव नारी बन जाएगी। लक्षमण जी हंसे, कि बन जाएगी तो शादी कर लेना। केवट कहता है, पर मैं तो पहले से ही शादीशुदा हूँ, पहले वाली घर पे रहती है, ये घाट पर रहने लगेगी, पर मैं न घर का रहूँगा न घाट का।

अरे भाई केवट! इस धूलि से तो गति मिलती है। जड़ नाव चेतन हो जाएगी। लाभ है कि हानि है?

लोकेशानन्द कहता है कि केवट जैसों को बातों में लगाना आसान नहीं। केवट कहता है, मुझे गति नहीं भगति चाहिए। नाव तो चेतन हो जाएगी, इसका इधर से उधर, उधर से इधर, आना जाना भी बंद हो जाएगा, माने आवागमन मिट जाएगा, पर भक्ति की धारा भी तो छूट जाएगी। आवागमन भले बना रहे पर यह भक्ति की धारा न छूटे।

Sailor (Kevat) rides the boat in the stream of devotion, Ganga. One who connects his life with the stream of devotion, starts living devotionally, does not have to go to Bhagwan, Bhagwan himself comes.

Shri Ram calls, Kewat doesn't come.

Lakshman laughs- Bhagwan! You want Sumantra to go! But he doesn't go. Here you are calling Kevat, he dosen't come. Sumantra is sitting on chariot, Kevat on boat. Nobody obeys what you say.

Shri Ram says, "Lakshman! At the time of exile, when I told you to not to come with me, then you agreed? You have spoiled my beginning. Brother! The style of lovers is different, they live in some other world. In Kevat's life there is a vision of love, not a show off."

Kevat asks- You know how to take a human across the world, you yourself can't swim?

Ram says- I don't know how to swim, I know how to drown.

Kevat- Where?

Shri Ram- In loving hearts of devotees.

Kewat says- The problem is not from you, but from your feet's dust. My boat will become a woman.

Lakshman laughs- If your boat becomes a woman, then get married.

Kevat- But I am already married, that former stays at home, this new one will start living on the river bank, but I will neither be able to live in the house, nor on the bank of the river.

Lakshman tells- Kewat! This dust gives salvation. If the boat becomes conscious, is that a profit or loss?

But it is not easy to cajole people like Kewat. Kevat says- "I don't want salvation, I want devotion. The boat will become conscious, it will stop going there from here, and coming here from there, means there will be no birth and death further, but even the stream of devotion will be missed."

Lokeshanand says that may someone takes a million births, and dies a million times, but one should not leave the stream of devotion.
