260 वाल्मीकि भगवान

भगवान से किसी ने पूछा कि सब आपकी मानते हैं, आप भी किसी की मानते हैं? भगवान ने वाल्मीकि जी कि ओर इशारा कर दिया, मैं इनकी मानता हूँ। ये जैसा जैसा कहते हैं, मैं वैसा वैसा ही चलता हूँ।

वाल्मीकि जी वे हैं जो जीव भाव का तिरस्कार कर, परमात्मा को जानकर परमात्मा ही हो गए, ब्रह्म हो गए।

"जानत तुमहि तुमहि हो जाई"

"ब्रह्म जानेति ब्रह्मैव भवति"

संकेत मिलते हैं कि "वाल्मीकि तुलसी भए" वाल्मीकि जी ही तुलसीदास बनकर आए। स्वयं तुलसीदास जी ने लिखा-

"डिग बांदीपुरा बिच सीतामढी,

जहाँ आसन मारत वृत्ति चढ़ी।

भूख न प्यास विचित्र दसा,

उर पूर्व जन्म प्रसंग बसा॥"

डींग और बाँदीपुरा के बीच सीतामढी है, जहाँ बैठते ही मेरी वृत्ति आकाशीय हो गई। देह का भान न रहा, अपने पूर्व जन्म का स्मरण हो आया। और यही वह स्थान है जहाँ वाल्मीकि जी का आश्रम था।

वाल्मीकि जी का जीवन उदाहरण है कि मन की दिशा बदल जाए तो जीवन की दशा बदल जाए। तुलसीदास जी लिखते हैं-

"उल्टा नाम जपत जग जाना।

वाल्मीकि भए ब्रह्म समाना॥"

कहनेवाले कहते हैं वाल्मीकि जी ने "मरा-मरा" जपा, लोकेशानन्द के देखे उल्टा नाम माने "राम" का उल्टा "मरा" नहीं, बल्कि उल्टा माने जप की धारा को उलट दिया।

जैसे दिन का उल्टा रात है, जपा का उल्टा अजपा है। जपा को अजपा कर देना ही, जप की धारा को पलट देना है, नाम को उलटा देना है। नामजप का इतना अभ्यास कर दिया कि जप करना ही नहीं पड़ता, नाम अपनेआप चलने लगा। यही तो विधि है।

ध्यान देकर समझें, जब भीतर नाम अपने से चलने लगा, और तब आपका ध्यान कहीं बाहर भटककर, कुछ समय बाहर ही घूमफिर कर, जब पुनः भीतर लौटकर आया, तब आपको लगा "अरे! मेरा ध्यान तो यहाँ नहीं था, फिर यहाँ ये नाम कौन जप रहा था?"

तब आपको पहली बार मालूम पड़ा कि मैं कर्ता नहीं था, कर्ता तो मन था, मैं तो द्रष्टा हूँ। योंही नामजप जपा से अजपा होकर धीरे धीरे अपनेआप ही द्रष्टाभाव में टिका देता है।

Someone asked Shri Ram that everyone obeys you, do you also obey someone? Shri Ram pointed to Valmiki ji, "I obey him. I go on as he says."

Valmiki ji is the one who crossed his body, attained divine enlightenment, and became divine, became Brahm.

"Janat tumahi tumahi ho jai"

"Brahm jaaneti brahmaiv bhavati"

There are indications that "Valmiki Tulsi bhaye" Valmiki ji took rebirth as Tulsidas. Tulsidas himself wrote-

"Dig Bandipura beech Sitamarhi,

Jahan aasan maarat vritti chadhi,

Bhookh na pyas vichitra dasha,

Urr purva janm prasang basa."

Sitamarhi lies between Deegh and Bandipura, where as I sat, my instinct became celestial. I couldn't remember my body, I remembered my past birth. And surprisingly, Sitamarhi is the place where was the hermitage of Valmiki Bhagwan.

Valmiki ji's life is an example, that if the direction of mind changes, the condition of life changes. Tulsidas ji writes-

“Ulta naam japat jag jaana,

Valmiki bhaye Brahm samana."

People say Valmiki ji chanted the reverse name, "Mara-Mara". Lokeshanand says that the meaning of reversing the name is not the reverse of "Ram", "Mara", it means he reversed the stream of chanting.

Just like the opposite of day is night, the opposite of sorrow is happiness, the opposite of Japa is Ajapa. He reversed the stream of chanting, means he practiced that much, chanted so much that chanting does not have to be done, the name "Ram" started to chant on its own. And this is the way.

You should now pay attention and understand, when the name began to chant by itself, when your attention diverted for some time, and you got attention again, found chanting on its own, then you thought, "Oh! My attention was somewhere else, then who was chanting here?"

Then you realize for the first time that I am not the one who was chanting, I am the eyewitness. I was not the doer, the doer was the mind, I am the seer. This is how japa is converted into ajapa and slowly makes you the witness, the seer automatically.
