267 कर्मकाण्ड का फल

भरत जी ने सुबह होते ही क्या किया?

"बिप्र जेवाँइ देहिं दिन दाना।

सिव अभिषेक करहिं बिधि नाना॥

मागहिं हृदयँ महेस मनाई।

कुसल मातु पितु परिजन भाई॥"

दु:स्वप्न आया तो अनिष्ट की आशंका से भरत जी ने कर्मकाण्ड प्रारंभ किया। सकाम अनुष्ठान किया।

माँगा क्या? चार की कुशलता माँगी, किन की? क्रम देखें, सबसे पहले माँ की, फिर पिता, पुनः सुहृदजन और अंत में भाई की, माने राम जी की।

फल क्या मिला? जो माँगा था वो तो नहीं मिला। माँ की कुशलता माँगी थी, विधवा हो गई, पिता की कुशलता माँगी थी, पिता मर गए, पुरजनों की कुशलता माँगी, सब पाँच दिनों से बेहाल हैं, किसी के घर चूल्हा तक नहीं जला। और भाई? उनकी कुशल का तो कहना ही क्या?

तो इस लीला से क्या संकेत मिल रहा है?

"यद्धात्रा निज भाल पट लिखितम्"

"कर्म प्रधान विश्व करि राखा"

"काहु ना कोउ सुखदुखकर दाता"

तो क्या कर्मकाण्ड निष्फल है? नहीं! पर उसका वो फल नहीं जिसकी कामना की गई हो। वह तो कभी कभार प्रारब्धवश संयोग बैठ जाता है, और ऐसा लगने लगता है। पर क्या अनन्त बार कामना निष्फल होती देखी नहीं जाती?

देखें, भरत जी को अनुपम फल मिला। मेरेपन का क्रम उलट गया, नियम यह है कि मन में ममता जिससे अधिक होती है, कामना उसी के लिए पहले की जाती है। पहले जहाँ माँ थी अब वहाँ राम जी आ गए, माँ अंतिम स्थान पर खिसक गईं। दृष्टि परमात्मोन्मुख हो गई, भगवान के चरणों में अनुराग हो गया।

लोकेशानन्द कहता है कि यही ममता का केन्द्र बदल जाना, कर्मकाण्ड का एकमात्र फल है।

When nightmare came, as soon as it was morning, Bharat performed a number of rituals with the fear of evil.

"Vipra jevaain dehi din dana,

Shiv abhishek karahi vidhi nana.

Mangahi hriday Mahesh manai,

Kusal matu pitu purjan bhai."

What did he ask for? He asked for the well being of four? Which four? Look at the sequence, first of all mother, then father, again citizens of Ayodhya and finally brother, means Shri Ram.

And what did he get? What was asked for, was not received. Mother's well being was sought, she was widowed. Father's well being was sought, father died. The well being of the citizens was sought, all are suffering for five days. And brother Ram? What to say about His well being?

So what is the meaning of all this? Are the rituals resultless? No! But you don't get the same result that is desired. Sometimes it may happen  by luck, and you feel like I got the desired result, but don't you see that most of the times your wishes are not fulfilled?

"Yaddhatra nij bhaal patt likhitam"

"Karm pradhan vishva kari rakha"

"Kahu na koi sukh dukh kar data"

See, Bharat got unique results. The order of attachment reversed. The rule is that for whom love is greater, the well being of that one is wished first.

Ram ji came to the place where mother was before, mother moved to the last place. Vision turned divine, Bharat got affectionate at Bhagwan's feet.

Lokeshanand says that change in the center of love is the only result of rituals.
