प्रयागराज आया, कहता है मेरे पास चार फल हैं, आप जो लेना चाहें ले लें। भरत जी ने चारों से इंकार कर दिया।

अर्थ नहीं चाहिए, देख लिया कि कैकेयी ने अर्थ के लिए अनर्थ कर दिया। गति नहीं चाहिए भगति चाहिए। काम नहीं चाहिए राम चाहिए। और जिस धर्म के लिए पिता जी ने राम जी का त्याग कर दिया, मुझे ऐसा धर्म भी नहीं चाहिए। मुझे तो रति चाहिए।

देखो, रति तो काम की पत्नी है, रति ही तो बंधन का कारण है, जब काम नहीं चाहिए तो रति का क्या करोगे? उसे राम जी के चरणों से लगा रखूँगा, तब बंधन नहीं रहेगा।

"जन्म जन्म रति राम पद यह वरदान न आन"

भरत जी ने गंगा यमुना की धारा में स्नान किया, कहते हैं इन श्वेत श्याम धाराओं में मुझे श्रीसीतारामजी के दर्शन होते हैं, पर सरस्वती में नहीं किया, कहते हैं इसी ने मंथरा की बुद्धि पलटी थी।

भरद्वाज जी मिले तो भरत जी आँख नहीं मिलाते। मुनि ने समझाया, भरत तुम्हारा कोई अपराध नहीं है, समय पर किसका बस है? सही बात है, हाथ में घड़ी तो है, पर समय हाथ में नहीं है।

उधर देवताओं में खलबली मची है, इन्द्र वृहस्पति जी से पूछता है- गुरु जी! यदि भरत एक बार कह दें कि अयोध्या लौट चलो, तो राम लौट जाएँगे?

-हाँ इन्द्र।

-ओह! तब तो बड़ी चिंता की बात है!

गुरु जी ने कहा- डरो मत, राम जी लौटेंगे नहीं, क्योंकि भरत कहेंगे ही नहीं।

-जब कहने ही जा रहे हैं, तो कहेंगे क्यों नहीं?

गुरु जी ने कहा- इन्द्र! तुम भरत को समझते नहीं, भरत तो राम जी की परछाई हैं।

"मन थिर करहु देव डर नाहिं। भरतहिं जानि राम परछाहिं॥"

परछाई शरीर के ढंग से चलती है, शरीर को अपने ढंग से नहीं चलाती। वो चले तो ये चले, वो रुके तो ये रुके। कहती है तुम जैसे चाहो, मैं वैसे ही राजी हूँ। लोकेशानन्द कहता है कि ऐसे परछाई बन जाना ही भक्ति है, धन्य है वो जो परछाई बन जाए। भरत जी राम जी के भाई भी हैं, राम जी की परछाई भी हैं।

Prayagraj came, says I have four fruits, Dharm(Duty), Arth(Money), Kaam(Desires), Moksh(Salvation). Take whatever you want. Bharat refused all four.

I don't want money, seeing what Kaikeyi did for the sake of kingdom. Don't want Salvation, I want devotion. Don't want fulfillment of desires, I need Ram. And the duty for which father abandoned Ram, I don't want such duty either.

Bharat took a bath in the stream of Ganga and Yamuna, he says that in these black and white streams, I see Shri SitaRam. But he didn't bathe in Saraswati, because he says that Saraswati changed Manthra's mind.

When he met Bharadwaj ji, Bharat doesn't see him eye to eye. Bharadwaj explained- Bharat! You have no blame in all this. Who has the right over time? True, there is a watch in hand, but time is not in the hand.

On the other side, there is a panic among the deities. The king of deities Indra, asks the Guru of all deities Vrihaspati- Guru ji! If Bharat says Ram once, to return to Ayodhya, will Ram return?

Vrihaspati- Yes! Indra.

Indra- Oh! Is that so? Then it is a matter of great concern.

Vrihaspati said- Don't be afraid. Ram will not return, because Bharat will not say such words.

Indra- When he is going to say, why won't he say?

Vrihaspati said- Indra, you don't understand Bharat, Bharat is Ram's shadow.

"Mana thir karahu dev dar nahi,

Bharatahi jaani Ram parichhahi."

Shadow follows the body, doesn't move the body in its own way. If body walks, shadow walks, body stops, shadow stops. Shadow says, I agree as you like. Lokeshanand says that becoming shadow is called devotion. Blessed is the one who became a shadow. Bharat is not only Ram's brother, he is Ram's shadow too.
