290 शत्रुघ्न जी की दशा

भरत जी तो नंदिग्राम में रहते हैं, शत्रुघ्न लाल जी महाराज उनके आदेश से राज्य संचालन करते हैं।

एक एक दिन रात करते करते, भगवान को वनवास हुए तेरह वर्ष बीत गए। एक रात की बात है, कौशल्या जी को सोते हुए अपने महल की छत पर किसी के चलने की आहट सुनाई दी। नींद खुल गई। पूछा कौन है?

मालूम पड़ा श्रुतिकीर्तिजी हैं। नीचे बुलाया गया। श्रुति, जो सबसे छोटी है, आई, चरणों में प्रणाम कर खड़ी रह गई।

राममाता ने पूछा- श्रुति! इतनी रात को अकेली छत पर क्या कर रही हो बिटिया? क्या नींद नहीं आ रही? शत्रुघ्न कहाँ है?

श्रुति की आँख भर आई, माँ की छाती से चिपटी, गोद में सिमट गई, बोली- माँ उन्हें तो देखे हुए तेरह वर्ष हो गए।

उफ! कौशल्या जी का कलेजा काँप गया।

तुरंत आवाज लगाई, सेवक दौड़े आए। आधी रात ही पालकी तैयार हुई, आज शत्रुघ्न जी की खोज होगी, माँ चली।

आपको मालूम है शत्रुघ्न जी कहाँ मिले? अयोध्या के जिस दरवाजे के बाहर भरत जी नंदिग्राम में तपस्वी होकर रहते हैं, उसी दरवाजे के भीतर एक पत्थर की शिला है, उसी शिला पर, अपनी बाँह का तकिया बनाकर लेटे मिले।

माँ सिराहने बैठ गई, बालों में हाथ फिराया तो शत्रुघ्न जी ने आँख खोली, माँ!

उठे, चरणों में गिरे, माँ! आपने क्यों कष्ट किया? मुझे बुलवा लिया होता। माँ ने कहा, शत्रुघ्न! यहाँ क्यों?

शत्रुघ्न जी की रुलाई फूट पड़ी, बोले- माँ! भैया राम पिता जी की आज्ञा से वन चले गए, भैया लक्ष्मण भगवान के पीछे चले गए, भैया भरत भी नंदिग्राम में हैं, क्या ये महल, ये रथ, ये राजसी वस्त्र, विधाता ने मेरे ही लिए बनाए हैं? कौशल्या जी निरुत्तर रह गई।

लोकेशानन्द कहता है कि देखो! यह रामकथा है, यह भोग की नहीं त्याग की कथा है, यहाँ त्याग की प्रतियोगिता चल रही है, और सभी प्रथम हैं, कोई पीछे नहीं रहा।

Bharat resides in Nandigram, Shatrughn runs Ayodhya's kingdom under his command.

Day and night passed and it is fourteenth year after Shri Ram got exile. One night, Kaushalya heard the sound of someone walking on the roof of her palace while sleeping. She woke up and asked- Who is there? 

She came to know it was Shruti Kirti, Shatrughn's wife. Called her down. Shruti, the youngest daughter-in-law, came, bowed at the feet and stood silent.

Kaushalya asked- Shruti! What are you doing alone on the terrace at such night? Are you not sleepy? Where is Shatrughn?

Shruti's eyes filled with tears, she clung to mother's chest, sat in her lap and said- "Mother! It has been thirteen years since I saw him."

Oh! Kaushalya's heart was shaken.

She immediately made a sound, servants came running. Palanquin was prepared at midnight, Shatrughn would be discovered today.

Do you know where Shatrughn was found? Outside Ayodhya's door, where Bharat resides in Nandigram as an ascetic, inside the same door is a stone rock, on the same stone, he was lying, making a pillow of his arm.

Mother sat down next to his head, turned her hand in his hair and Shatrughn opened his eyes, Mother!

He woke up, fell at the feet. Mother! Why did you suffer? You would have called me. Mother said- Why are you here?

He started to cry, said- Mother! Shri Ram went to the forest on Father's orders, Bhai Lakshman went after him, Bhai Bharat is also in Nandigram, has the Creator made this palace, this chariot, these royal robes, only for me? Kaushalya was left speechless.

Lokeshanand says that see, this is 'Ram Katha', this is a story of renunciation, not of indulgence. Here the contest of renunciation is going on, and everyone is on the top, no one is behind.
